KaS Assani – Casual (feat. Mickey Shiloh)

Paris-based Producer and Composer KaS Assani has teamed up with Multi-Platinum Songwriter & Recording Artist Mickey Shiloh (who has worked with the likes of Britney Spears, Janet Jackson, Pitbull, Jennifer Lopez and others) for his first single ‘CASUAL’ which premiered on February 14th on all streaming platforms and music services.

The song is about having a casual, physical and emotional relationship with a partner without the extra commitments of a more formal romantic relationship, despite the natural attraction, the feelings that might be building up stronger and stronger.
It’s basically everybody’s story: meeting someone, engaging in a relationship and trying to avoid falling in love, holding back out of fear of a potential heartbreak.

THE PRODUCTION

The production is divided in 3 parts:

1/ The first and main part is an RnBass uptempo with heavy tropical influences. The choruses are punctuated by a dancing and driven electronic flute.

2/ Then comes the bridge which rhythm is laid out by claps, a minimal kick pattern and shouts. Stereo-wide pads, pumping and pulsating synths help set the contrasting floating ambiance.

Mickey’s vocals blend effortlessly with the music throughout the first 2 parts of the song.

3/ The final part is purely instrumental and it starts off with the introduction of a deep and resonating vintage synth bass, later supported by an aerial, uprising, rich string arrangement with a touch of light acoustic guitar.
Then the dancehall influence is once again introduced with a syncopated beat pattern.

The song was recorded during summer 2016, mixed and mastered by 3-time Grammy nominated Producer/Mix Engineer Yonni.

THE MUSIC VIDEO

The single has been released along with its official music video, which really is a 3-minute highly aesthetic short film. Throughout the music video, the viewer is plunged into the intimacy of a couple. We see them hanging out carelessly, playing, drinking, dancing, having a good time but as the story is unveiled, we perceive more and more doubt, hesitation and even fear triggered by the idea of taking the plunge to the unknown.

‘CASUAL’ is the first release off of KaS Assani’s upcoming project yet to be announced later this year.
