Here is what Kylie Trout had to say about the song, ““Can’t Remember Growing Up” is about my childhood growing up without my biological mother. She was abusive towards me when I was little to the point where she was only allowed supervised visitations to see me, which she wouldn’t even bother to show to. I have not seen or had contact with her since I was 4 years old, and I am now 16. This was the hardest struggle for me growing up, and I turned to music for healing. This song shares how growing up without her impacted me and hurt me more than words can describe. However, it also tells how it did not break, nor define me. It reminds me to stay strong and I hope it can help others as well.”
